Return from Indonesia, Myanmar Muslim Lawyer Shot Dead

Muslim Religion Facts, YANGON - Ko Ni, a Muslim lawyer from the National League for Democracy (NLD) shot dead a Yangon International Airport. The incident occurred on Sunday (29/1) yesterday and Ko Ni reportedly died directly.

"The taxi driver nearby was shot while trying to fight the armed actors," said one airport official as reported by Anadolu Agency on Monday (30/1).

However, the driver died in the current trip to the hospital. Meanwhile, armed men who did the shooting was reportedly arrested at the scene, identified the name of Kyi Lin 53-year-old who is a citizen of Mandalay, the second largest city in Myanmar.

NLD spokesman Nyan Win said Ko Ni has just returned from Indonesia along with government officials and Muslim leaders in other Myanmar. The meeting, also attended prominent student leader Mya Aye, who is studying the experience of Indonesia's national reconciliation.

"I do not know who would want to kill it," Nyan Win said by telephone, adding that the incident left a deep trauma.
